fantastic experience! It was the
first time we went to Central America and were also engaged in a tour.
Fortunately, we shared the adventure with the Dutch piano-trio Amphion,
which had been selected with us for these concerts in the Mozarteum’s
International Master Classes in chamber music organized in Zell an der
Pramm (Upper Austria). We were greatly impressed by the great interest
of the public in our concerts, which included many young students from
the University of Colima. We also had enough time to have short walks around the city of Colima and slip on the “pietra nigra”, a black meteorite which had fallen on the Earth in ancient times and traditionally wrapped in the mysterious ability to influence the future: in fact, whoever slips on it can be sure to return to Mexico, whoever does it twice, will return to live there and, those who do it three times, will even get married in Mexico. We all slipped once and, a few years later, we returned with a chamber orchestra... But that is another story. Our memories also include professor Davide Nicolini, teacher of violin at the University of Colima and our guide, and the Mexican pianist, Rafael Rodrigez Russum, who played the third movement of the piano-quartet op.44 of Schumann with us. |
