This is an ambitious disc by Trio
Broz. They are siblings: Barbara on
violin, Giada on viola and Klaus on
cello. They come from Rovereto with a
first class musical education, 500
concerts despite his youth and the
intent to deal with non-obvious things.
Here they propose the sublime
Divertimento in E flat K 563 Mozart -
one etheral and at the same time deep
masterpiece of the last production -
with the little-known Trio in D by Franz
Xaver Süssmayr, the composer who
completed the Mozart's Requiem. The
composition, in only two movements with
distinctly theatrical character - a
little in Salieri's style - is an
absolute world premiere recording, like
the previous cd by Trio Broz with Bach's
Goldberg Variations for string trio in
the version by Bruno Giuranna. The
ensemble is appreciated for
extraordinary musical reasons even
before the technical performance. And,
over all, their ability to elevate a
deep extremely symphonic
density of Mozart in an
astral grace and, in contrast, to
"dignify" the airy beauty of the work of
Kapelmeister Süssmayr, composer at
the Royal Opera House in Vienna. And
they play with the privileged
understanding of siblings,
so that they just take a look with a
half smile and create an interpretation
where the combination of three
instruments is much more than the union
of their voices: it's a powerful
emotional sharing
that reaches with the music their
listeners.

Classic
Voice - June 2011
review by Paolo Petazzi

The
third CD of Trio Broz is fully up to the
flattering praise so far obtained from
this ensemble, consisting of Barbara
(violin), Giada (viola and violin) and
Klaus Broz (cello), Rovereto, three
brothers playing together since 1993.
Here, test themselves with one of the
absolute masterpiece of the literature
for string trio, the Divertimento in E
flat major, in the Mozart's works catalog
from September 27, 1788.
The title of "divertimento" (fun) is
relevant for the articulation of the
piece in six movements, with two Adagios
and two Minuets, but does not indicate a
disengaged or simple entertaining character:
its "lightness" is understood as a
poetic and internalized levity,
as shown by Trio Broz with
the happy clarity of his interpretation
; they enhances with clear and secure adhesion
the wonders of Mozart's
writing for the three strings. Clever is
the idea to complete the CD with a
rarity by Franz Xaver Süssmayr, the
pupil of Mozart who completed the
Requiem: Trio in D major is the only
known and has a unique articulation in
two moviments. He listens with interest;
it impresses for the distance (not only
qualitative) by model Mozart: Angelo
Foletto rightly proposes Salieri's style
as reference.

review by Angelo Foletto
The Divertimento
K563 or the so-called "Grand Trio" for
violin viola and cello is a wonderful chamber
music
masterpiece of mature
Mozart presented in a delicate but
thoughtful and absorbed interpretation,
well proposed with the world premiere of
the deep Trio by fozart's famous pupil
Franz Süssmayr.

review by Emilia Campagna
"... strong mature executive choices with
a perfect - solo and ensemble - technique
and a classically graceful
interpretation, rigorous in
the conduction of the musical discourse,
capable of light flashes and dark
and brooding introspection. [...] a most
visual evidence of the ability of Trio
Broz to bring out the plastic ductility of
phrasing, between wit and gallantry. "
