A
new twist to
an old tale!
Trio
Broz - Outspoken - The Essence
The show is the musical meeting of
Africa and
Europe with music and feelings. Europe with the culture of the
classical music and the classical music instruments. Africa with the
rhythm and the sounds of percussion.
What happens when they meet? The keyboard is internationally the symbol
of music, and we like to imagine that it is so, because on the keyboard
white and black keys are alongside, have different characters but equal
importance and are able to create a harmony only by playing together. A
society made up of collaborative sound. White and black are not colors,
they are sounds, they are feelings, they are music! First time together
“The Essence" (Zimbabwean band), Trio Broz (European ensemble) and the
voice of Outspoken, for a show full of fantasy, poetry and
international music!
A show for an artistic projects with an
international message
2009 has been European Year of Creativity and
Innovation –
EYCI. Creativity means exploring what characterises the human being in
his totality: the phantasy and the ability to create.
Creativity is different in every land and in every culture. For
centuries the different cultures discriminated also in the artistic
expression the creativity of different lands and people, without
understanding the richness of a cooperation.
With this show the artists from different continents travel together
along the road of mutual respect and appreciation, by recognizing the
value of their respective musical traditions and cultural differences
they represent.
Creativity means Innovation and also to build something new and never
heard before: so that Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi and other great
musicians of the european tradition will be reinvented through the
meeting with the african culture.
2010 is European Year for combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
That's the meaning of a cooperation between Europe and Zimbabwe.
What is actually happening during the
collaboration - what music is being played, by which group, how is it
coming together and how does the collaboration actually work in
performance?
During the show the 2 bands together will
offer to the
audience some very well known international classical music pieces
arranged in an "african way". The pieces will be emotional commentary
to the poetry of Outspoken, speaking about "white and black" like keys
on the same keyboard. Some moments are more meditative, others more
happy, with also a little humor.
Also the two bands collaboration represent chaos and calm, black and
white is emphasized in the production as an attempt for social cohesion
through “black music” merging with “white music” also exploring the
different faces worn through music, from the emotional arousal of this
musical journey of the seemingly juxtaposed sounds.
Why string instruments and percussion?
The string instruments are symbols of the
classical music
which ties together with European culture. In the show Europe and
Africa will meet in the music.
The urgency and unmeasured decibels of the African sound becomes
counter balanced with the calculated precision of the strings creating
a new dimension to both elements whence synergized.
What benefits will bring the
collaboration to the Zimbabwean artists involved? To the european
(italian) artists ? And to International audiences?
The Zimbabwean artists will explore new ways
to feel the
music of the european artists; the european artist will in turn learn
the Zimbabwean way to feel music; the audience will receive through
music an important and strong message about the power of the arts. The
production also seeks to touch on our current social divisions that go
down to the type of music we listen to and lifestyles we lead, in an
attempt to show the need to synergize efforts in order to succeed and
reach uncharted regions of the mind as one force focused on rebuilding
a now broken down existence. |
